Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd announced it will soon offer iTunes Movies and TV shows through an iTunes app as well as Apple AirPlay 2 support on 2018 and 2019 Smart TV models.

Won-Jin Lee, Executive Vice President, Service Business of Visual Display at Samsung Electronics said, “Bringing more content, value and open platform functionality to Samsung TV owners and Apple customers through iTunes and AirPlay is ideal for everyone”.

With the iTunes Movies and TV Shows app, Samsung Smart TV customers can access their existing iTunes library and browse the iTunes Store to rent or buy new content. No word yet on which particular 2018 models will receive this support via a firmware update, but we’re guessing the NU and Q line series are top of the list.

Eddy Que, Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services at Apple was also quoted as saying, “We look forward to brining the iTunes and AirPlay 2 experience to even more customers around the world through Samsung Smart TV’s, so iPhone, iPad and Mac users have yet another way to enjoy all their favorite content on the biggest screen in their home”.
