Tesla is apparently discontinuing its 75 kWh battery pack for the Model S and Model X starting next week.
Introduced in 2016, the 75 kWh Tesla versions will be available until Sunday evening for order. Unless other announcements are soon to follow, the change would result in significant price increases for the price of the Model S and Model X.
In the United States, the 100 kWh battery pack starts at $94,000 vs $76,00 for the 75 kWh version of the Model S. The Model X 100 kWh starts at $97,000 vs $82,000 for the lower capacity version.
It’s likely that Tesla could introduce a new battery pack in the coming weeks. However, Tesla wouldn’t comment on the change beyond stating that they occasionally make changes to their lineup of vehicles.
