Anthony Daniels posted a message on Twitter announcing that filming for Star Wars: Episode IX as C-3P0 wrapped yesterday. Daniels has appeared as the golden droid in all nine of the main Star Wars movies since 1977.
Today was 3PO’s last on Episode IX. He’s sad – so am I. But we’re so proud to have worked with such a lovely, talented cast & crew lead by J.J. & Kathy. I’ll miss everyone but I’m glad to know that we’ve been making something exceptional together, to share with the waiting world.
Filming for Star Wars: Episode IX began at London’s Pinewood Studios on August 1, 2018 with J.J. Abrams returning to direct. Cast members also include Mark Hamill, Billy Dee Williams, Carrie Fisher, John Boyega, Daisey Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Naomi Ackie, Richard E. Grant, Matt Smith and Keri Russell.
Fisher, who passed away unexpectedly in 2016, will get screen time as Princess Leia Organa using previously unreleased footage shot for Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
