Indiana Jones 5 to Begin Filming Next Year

Steven Spielberg has confirmed that his next movie will be Indiana Jones 5 and then a West Side Story remake.

Details of the project are scarce but there’s been a lot of speculation as to the plot and direction of the film. Harrison Ford is slated to return as Indian Jones, but with Ford currently at 75 years old it seems likely that a younger actor will eventually be cast to don the fedora and bullwhip. It’s been rumored that the Ready Player One director has his eye on Chris Pratt to take on the role. But with his current filming schedule and Guardians of the Galaxy 3 set for a 2020 release it’s unlikely Chris will have time to join Indy on his latest quest.

Disney CEO Robert Iger has stated that while the return of the Indiana Jones franchise won’t extend into a series of annual movies like the recent revival of Star Wars has, the plan for now is to at least make one more film. David Koepp is currently writing the script and George Lucas will likely be involved as a Producer.

The fifth installment of the Indiana Jones franchise is scheduled for a 2020 release.
